My Dear Friends in Norway,

Thank you very much for remembering us on the event of Dr. Muhammad Yunus being awarded with Noble Prize for Peace for the year 2006.
We are overwhelmed with joy on this occasion as our indigenous poverty eradication efforts gets world wide recognition today. We also share the joy because the YMCA and the YWCA in Bangladesh too have adopted the micro credit program, following the principles of Grameen Bank, however, with slightly different methodologies. Today in the YMCA we have more than 10,000 borrowers of this program, all women folk, who are trying to break the shackles of the vicious circle of poverty.
The award of the Nobel Prize for Dr. Muhammad Yunus is also very significant to us, since he is the first Bangladeshi to receive this most coveted and prestigious award of the world after our independence.
The Nobel Peace Prize for Dr. Yunus will surely inspire us to work more diligently for the downtrodden people so that they may enjoy their life in full abundance.
Thanking you once again for sharing with us the joy of the occasion.
With best regards,
National General Secretary
National Council of YMCAs of Bangladesh
